Lavarn R.

Night Nanny

Hi Everyone, my name is Lavarn and I am so excited to meet you! Originally from Guyana, I moved to the United States in 1999 and have called Brooklyn my home since then. I have been taking care of babies for 14 years and officially achieved my Newborn Care Specialist certification and training in infant, toddler, and adult CPR and AED 3 years ago. I have worked for a number of families over the years and am most passionate about working with newborns. I absolutely love this stage as I truly believe I can really help both families (e.g. setting them up for success by helping them get into the right routines of the bat) as well as the newborns (e.g. using techniques to soothe them based on my experience of what has worked best with other babies). Over the years I have become very experienced with different types of needs - everything from colic, preemies, umbilical cord care, circumcision, lactation support, postpartum depression, c-section recovery, sleep training, and obviously the basics (bathing babies, changing diapers, tracking the baby's feeding, diaper changes and sleep patterns etc.). I am always happy to answer any questions and, when in doubt, do my research on anything pertaining to the baby. I look forward to connecting and would love to introduce you to my previous clients so that you can hear from them directly about their great experiences working with me. Thanks for your consideration.

Night Nanny

I have over 10 years of experience in childcare, having served a wide array of roles with children. I began my journey as a professional figure skating instructor in 2012 where I worked for over 7 years as both a group coach and private trainer. I also served as a mentor for aspiring skaters and an academic tutor for various ages. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science & Arts in Biochemistry and Russian with a Business Foundations Certificate in Spring 2017 from The University of Texas at Austin. I began my venture into nannying in 2015 and have several years of Family Assistant and House Management experience. I've always been passionate about serving as a positive role model and caretaker for children of all ages! I am professional, patient, dependable, and energetic. I possess strong interpersonal skills that help foster well-structured, positive work environment. I strongly believe that effective communication is vital to providing a working unit for both the family and caregiver, which I implement in all of my caretaking roles. While the majority of my experience in childcare has not been with infants, I do provide infant care when sitting for families on an as-needed basis and held a temporary position for a family with for a family with an infant. While with this family, the mother was experiencing postpartum depression and they were having trouble with sleep training the infant and establishing a consistent bedtime routine. I was a live-in nanny for about a month while helping sleep train the infant so that I was able to sleep next to the infant's room and provide any assistance needed throughout the night so that the mother could get some proper rest.

I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago and my love for babies had brought me into 3 years of baby nursing. I also assist with umbilical cord care, lactation and diapering, I am good at helping new parents learn how to properly clean and sterilize baby bottles, feeding and coming up with a sleeping schedule. I would be happy to help you too during this exciting time with all of my hands on experience you can lean on me to help you with your new bundle of joy. I look forward to lending a hand with bathing, changing diapers, keeping the baby calm and even giving massages to the baby when appropriate. I will also help you help your new baby with reaching those milestones in development by interacting with him/her and provide activities to help with their learning skills. I am also good with instilling good diet habits that your child will carry with them (along with your help to double down) on keeping a healthy, balanced diet. while they are still in the infant stages we can work together. We can get you child on a sleep routine that would benefit everyone. I have plenty of experience working overnight or as needed. I know that there are demanding jobs and a parents rest is very vital to having a happy home. I have worked with multiple families over the years and I can adjust very quickly to the different types of parenting styles that I come across.
