I bring more than 20 years of pediatric nursing experience, including over 16 years as a NICU registered nurse in Hawaii and at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, as well as four years in pediatric medical-surgical nursing. I have also provided in-home respite care for children with special needs, including former NICU patients with tracheostomies, ventilators, G-tubes, and other complex medical needs.
Caring for children has always been a central part of my life. I began babysitting at age 11 and later worked as a private swim instructor, swim-school instructor, lifeguard, and instructor at the Gardena City Pool throughout high school and college. These experiences helped me develop patience, attentiveness, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust with children and their families.
What makes me especially well suited to newborn care is my ability to combine extensive clinical knowledge with a calm, gentle, and nurturing approach. I am highly experienced in feeding, diapering, bathing, soothing, establishing healthy sleep routines, recognizing changes in a newborn’s condition, and providing a safe environment for infants. My NICU background has taught me to remain composed, observant, and responsive while caring for even the most medically fragile babies.
I also understand that supporting a newborn means supporting the entire family. I enjoy working closely with parents—especially postpartum mothers—and offering reassurance during what can be a joyful but exhausting and sometimes overwhelming transition. I can support breastfeeding mothers with positioning, feeding routines, and encouragement when nursing is difficult, while always respecting each family’s preferences and parenting choices.
After many years in the hospital environment, I am excited to focus on the part of nursing I love most: providing attentive, one-on-one care to babies and helping parents feel supported and confident in their own homes. Families can trust me to be dependable, respectful, safety-conscious, and genuinely devoted to their baby’s comfort and well-being.
