Sitter / Nanny

Aside from my 2 year old son, I have 2 years experience teaching children from age group infant-3rd grade , I have experience as a daycare , preschool, and elementary school teacher, I’ve taught music in elementary schools as I am classically trained and a graduate of performing arts school , I am also a licensed M.A so I have experience in the health field as well so incase of emergencies I can help any child in an instant of health related issues etc. My love and true passion for children starts from my soul, I was always considered the “too nice “ teacher , but that’s because I see children and adults as equals, yes they need guidance at time but they need to know their value and that their voices, dreams, thoughts, their silliness and joy , it matters and makes all of our days brighter to see children thrive. I like to make sure kids never forget that they have a place in this world and that the world is theirs , the future is theirs.

I have quite a bit of experience with babysitting. My longest time babysitting was with an 8 year old in my neighborhood for most of 2022 (weekends, school days, summer). I’ve also worked at summer camps for 2 years as a camp counselor (5-6 months experience). I’ve taken care of large groups of kids aged 3-9. Since signing up for Apiari in March 2023, I’ve babysat for like 7 different families—kids aged 5-10. One 9 year old girl and a pair of 8 year old twins are my regulars. I pick the kids up from school, drop them off where ever they need to be, put them to bed, spend time with them at home, play with them at parks, take care of meals. These kids have taught me a lot about myself; I really enjoy working with them. I love chatting with them, listening to their interests, doing arts and crafts, playing, helping with homework. I see all kids as their own person. I understand the responsibility of taking care of someone’s child while making sure their child is comfortable and safe.

I was very exciting to learn of the open position with your family for a Baby Nurse and I am writing to apply for this job. Working with babies takes a delicate hand and an in-depth knowledge of newborns and it is something that I love doing. I have worked as a baby nurse for over 10 years and I enjoy helping new parents make the transition into parenthood, by teaching them how to care for the new addition to their family. I have the knowledge and training needed to educate new parents on how to care for their babies by teaching them how to feed, bath and put baby down for naptime. I can help parents organize the nursery to make things more convenient and easier to handle. I am also trained to take care of twins, so parents are not so overwhelmed and stressed. When I am available to care for newborns 24 hours a day, the new parents have time to adjust to having an infant in the home. It makes it possible for them to get the sleep they need so they can adjust slowly. Even parents who already have children at home can use the extra help, so they have time to take care of their other children. Being a Baby Nurse is a very rewarding career that I love very much and I have an excellent reputation of being trustworthy and dependable. I have included several references confirming my abilities to fill this role in my resume. You can reach me for an interview by calling my cellphone number (646)-954-8551 and I hope to meet with you soon.

Throughout my years of childcare I’ve been dedicated to curating an environment that allows your child to play, learn emotional intelligence, develop social skills, and even improve their creative thinking. I've worked with kids ranging from 3 months old to 15 years old. I've loved all of them equally but cared for them differently according to age and maturity level. Not every kid is the same which is why a flexible age range is needed. One of my specialties when it comes to child care is independent language development. Parents have reported an increase of communication & vocabulary amongst them and their child after repeated sessions with me. I accomplish this by communicating with children using upper level vocabulary and having conversations with the children as if they are my peer. Developing independence at a young age is extremely beneficial to both cerebral and social expansion which is why I emphasize positive discipline that encourages thought rather than pain and anxiety. Talking children must communicate their emotions behind their actions which then I will respond with my emotions/reasoning behind why they can’t do what they’ve done. Children benefit a lot from positive reassurance. Even older kids i’ve cared for have benefited from my childcare strategies. With the combination of Montessori pedagogy, emotional learning, and social development I will create the best environment for your children. Note: My hourly rate is one child. An extra $5/hr will be added for each additional child.
