Sitter / Nanny

Hi, I'm Julie! I am looking for a part-time position on the Upper East Side as I job-search and hopefully continue once I am hired as well. I have been working in the childcare/education system for 7+ years. I have experience with all aged child care (infants, toddlers, preschool) as well as elementary and middle school aged kids. I have loved my positions as a summer-time nanny, daycare support teacher, pre-K teacher, and 3rd and 4th grade teacher. I love engaging kids in many different ways of play from STEM activities to reading to outdoor play. With my experience teaching elementary school, I can also assist with homework and summer enrichment activities. I love spending time outdoors and going on walks, so pets are a plus!

I am really good with kids and they love my warm, lovely smile all the time and they always seem to get used to me in a short time. Additionally, I am really patient with kids whenever it comes to teach them some stuff. And I have one year experience back in time, in Turkey.

With over 15 years of paid childcare experience, I am a Certified Newborn Care Specialist & Artist because I am a fun-loving and free-spirited nurturer by nature. I am athletic & I like to stay active. I love singing, dancing, drawing, puzzles, LEGOs, teaching/learning, playing games, reading books & taking walks. Coming from a large New Orleanian family of artists of many sorts, I have a whimsical-creative style & personality. I am 42 years old and have a very flexible schedule. I am also First Aid and Child/Infant CPR trained & certified. I understand the difficulty & importance of finding trustworthy care for your child. I appreciate & respect the gravity of MY position in regards to how precious your child's first years of life are. Your child needs & deserves more than a human surveillance system. Hire a caregiver driven by love, who will engage & stimulate your child. I take pride in my work & the care I provide. I love being a Nanny and I come highly recommended! You will not be disappointed.

I am an incoming graduate student at New York University, where I will be obtaining a Master’s in Social Work. Prior to this new chapter in my life, I attended Virginia Commonwealth University where I received a B.S. in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science. For some parts of my undergraduate years, I would babysit after classes and here and there on the weekends for extended family members, friends, and more. My last two years of undergraduate, I started tutoring not only at the university level but also elementary to high school level as well. Once I graduated from VCU, I started working at a behavioral health clinic, where I learned the importance of expressive/exploration groups. I believe through simple expressive activities such as art, dance, or even music can truly benefit a child’s growth and development. It teaches them to be creative and think outside the box. As someone who used to take Southeast Asian dance classes every weekend from elementary school to high school, I credit a lot of who I am today to dancing. While babysitting, I enjoy doing arts and craft projects, reading books together, singing and dancing. I speak conversational Bengali, as well. I have worked with children with mild autism. I am available on the weekends, and only for Thursday mornings.
